Various shape trees
All our trained shapes can be bound according to your specifications. There are various options available, which we will detail further on this page:
- Pleached trees
- Fully trained
- Espalier on stem 4 layers
- Roof form
- Cube / Block shape
Our freshly trained shape trees are uprooted as suitable form trees and are bound to trellises on-site in our warehouse. For most species, we offer various sizes of suitable trained trees, allowing us to provide trained forms starting from a height of 20 cm. When mounting the trellises, we ensure that plenty of young branches are attached to the form, resulting in a beautiful finished product.
“We create bamboo trellises for trees that are field-grown, then we tie the branches to the trellis.”
Creating Freshly Trained Trees
For tying form shapes, we use bamboo stakes; for block or canopy shapes, we combine this with steel to ensure sufficient stability. The tall training forms are bound at heights of 180 cm to 200 cm on the trunk. We have standard heights and trellis sizes for each size (circumference). Other trellis sizes can also be provided upon request.
Fully Trained and Tiered Forms:
Low and high training forms are created by placing a sturdy bamboo trellis on a tree trunk. Low training forms can be bound at heights starting from 20 cm as needed. High training forms can be bound at heights of 180 cm to 200 cm.Most forms are fully trained, with only Tilia species made in a 4-tier form, trellis size 180*120.
We can create the following types of espaliers:
- Acer campestre Elsrijk
- Carpinus betulus
- Fagus sylvatica
- Fagus sylvatica ‘Atropunicea’
- Liquidambar styraciflua
- Liquidambar styraciflua ‘Worplesdon’
- Malus eetappels
- Malus sierappels
- Parrotia persica
- Platanus hispanica ‘Malburg’
- Prunus laurecerasus ‘Novita’
- Prunus serrulata ‘Kanzan’
- Prunus ‘Umineko’
- Prunus yedoensis
- Pyrus calleryana Chanticleer
- Pyrus eetpeer
- Platanus X hispanica
- Quercus palustris (enkel hoog uitleiden mogelijk)
- Tillia soorten

Roof shapes
For creating roof shapes, a steel cross is used with bamboo stakes through the steel frame. This keeps the frame nicely aligned in the tree. All branches are trained horizontally at a height of 240/250 cm. The dimensions of the roof trellis are 130 cm by 130 cm (cross dimensions 180 cm by 180 cm). To facilitate the transport of roof shapes, one length pole of the canopy has been left loose for stacking purposes.
Types of roof shapes:
- Acer campestere ‘Elsrijk’
- Carpinus betulus
- Liquidambar styraciflua
- Liquidambar styraciflua ‘Worplsedon’
- Morus alba ‘Fruitless’
- Morus alba ‘Macrophylla’
- Platanus X hispanica ‘Malburg’
- Quercus palustris

Block/Cube Shapes:
Block- / Cube Shapes:
The block shapes come with a steel frame in the form of a cube, available in two sizes. The block is typically mounted at a trunk height of 200 cm, with alternative heights available upon request. To create a cube shape, we select a well-branched tree to ensure a secure attachment.
Standard Block Shapes:
- 70 x 70 x 100 cm
- 100 x 100 x 100 cm
Types of Block Shapes:
- Acer campestere Elsrijk
- Carpinus betulus
- Liquidambar styraciflua
- Liquidambar styraciflua Worplsedon
- Fagus sylvatica
- Fagus sylvatica ‘Atropunicea’
